Who is ONCC.fyi?
We are separate from ONCC with no affiliation. We are a group of ONCC members that desire to praise the services and events available to the members. We also need to discuss the need to make ONCC more interactive, achieve better member communication, enhance member transparency and be an overall source for what’s going on and how to improve interaction.
Our membership is simply concerned ONCC members and is open to all members and renters. The information available to renters is limited however, their input is beneficial. The membership will will be verified when the initial log in.
As our membership grows we hope to have a concerned voice to better speak to the ONCC leadership.
In Summary:
ONCC is Oaks North Community Center, the HOA for the community. On this website the use of ONCC is reference to Oaks North Community Center.
ONCC.fyi is this website, unaffiliated with ONCC. We will always be referenced as ONCC.fyi or simply FYI.
ONCC.fyi is the Internet acronym for Oaks North Concerned Citizens. Why not Oaks North Concerned Members? That would be ONCM, what fun is that?
How we started and Now
Three of us would have coffee to discuss the topics of the day and to simply enjoy each other’s company. Around the time of the ONCC solar project, well before the Solar Town Hall meeting, we began asking questions to ourselves about certain operations of the center. Nothing too concerning as we understood that HOAs are dysfunctional by nature. With the long time frame in waiting for the solar permit, concerns began to grow, certain reserve expense, the lawn bowling renovation, solar, financial statement anomalies and more.
Nothing super alarming, but concerning. Our group grew to five, three more and one leaving Oaks North.
We noticed that when Claudia left and a short time later, Judy Anderson, the Treasurer, left the board, the “feel” of ONCC began to change. At about the same time the solar project was picking up speed. With our collective business experience we could see upcoming issues with the solar project. It seemed to go from a small team of focused members, Linda, Tom and Jim to a committee run project by inexperience committee members. We began making side bets.
Of interest, the only information we had was that which was provided by ONCC to the members, typically the monthly financials and board meetings and what was disseminated or heard on the street. We had no inside information.
We reached a membership of nine, it dropped to six and then up to seven in early 2026. We asked Jim Colville to join as he seemed extremely knowledgeable about the solar project and financial operations. He declined as he was concerned about the appearance of being involved. Typical CPA professionalism. However, he later agreed to be a spokesman as he could filter our concerns and better discuss them with the board and board meetings.
Of interest, one of our members had past experience with Jim and working on large complex projects. and wasn’t surprised how he worked well with “committee oversight” Or as one of our members said, “committee meddling” and could still get things done.
Our concerns took a huge leap when the financial auditor fired ONCC. In the accounting, finance and auditing world the firing by the CPA or CPA firm is one of the most extreme events that can happen. And the board, specifically the Treasurer, buried it, the termination letter and any further discussion, enhnacing the lack of transparency to the ONCC members.
Shortly after, the board seemed to have removed itself from further ONCC responsibility by hiring Angel as the general manager. Not business manager, but general manager. Oh boy, what we saw was alarming. When we saw the retaliation against members, we knew it was time to step up our Concern.
This website is to discuss and highlight our concerns which is typically all negative. We do want point out that there are many positive things, many good member oriented events, extremely well maintained property, effective use of the management company and more.
But breaking the promise with the solar special assessment, throwing away thousands of dollars in the spirit of blaming others while avoiding any responsibility, massive lack of disclosure and transparency and overall disregard of members concerns has pushed us over the edge.
